26 Feb Hind Benchekroun is the winner of the PRISME VI Telefilm residency !
Congratulations to Hind Benchekroun, winner of PRISME 5 development residency!
With the support of Telefilm, Main Film will accompany Hind in the development of her feature-length fiction film, BISKO, with training, mentoring, access to equipment, and more, all valued at $8,000.
A big thank you to Telefilm Canada for making this residency possible!

Hind Benchekroun is a director and producer from Morocco who has been working in documentary cinema since 2000. She gained her professional experience in Quebec with Les Films de l’Isle, the National Film Board of Canada, and Productions Multi-Monde, with whom she has collaborated on numerous films. At a turning point in her career, she is now starting the production of her first feature-length fiction film, directed by Sami Mermer.
After producing, writing, and directing the documentary Xalko with Sami Mermer, the idea of producing a fiction film in this geographical and cultural space came about almost naturally. BISKO tells the story of the adventures of a cunning and rebellious young boy named Bisko, the leader of his family despite his age, in a Kurdish village in Turkey. The production of this film responds to a desire to “preserve” this village through cinema, but also to a more urgent and personal need: to safeguard its “memory.” This memory will be passed on to the descendants of this village, most of whom are exiled around the world.
Main Film would like to thank the Canada Media Fund (CMF) for their financial support, as well as our close collaborators: the Quebec Media Production Association (AQPM) – The Bell Fund – The Independent Production Fund (IPF) – FNC Industry – Académie canadienne du cinéma et de la télévision – Association NAWAL – Makila
