Congratulations to Jonathan Cortés, the recipient of PRISME IV’s development residency!
In partnership with Telefilm and Coop Vidéo, Main Film will support Jonathan in the development of his feature-length fiction film, L’ENFANT-JÉSUS, with services valued at $12,000.
Telefilm and Main Film will provide project development support, as well as training, mentoring, access to equipment and more, all valued at $8,000. La Coop Vidéo will offer a year’s access to the Coop’s offices, coaching on project creation, and 10 hours of mentoring, all valued at $4,000.

Jonathan Cortés is a screenwriter, director and producer. Born in Medellín, he studied advertising before pursuing audiovisual studies in Montreal and completing a Master’s degree in film directing in Barcelona. His work explores human complexity, and his projects have won awards at several international festivals.
In L’ENFANT-JÉSUS, a feature-length fiction film, nine-year-old Pedrito struggles with school bullying and the difficulties of adapting to his new life in Montreal.

With the support of the Canada Media Fund and as part of its Support for Industry Development initiative, Main Film is offering a training program for multidisciplinary artists, filmmakers and producers who wish to develop a professional practice in independent audiovisual production and integrate into the industry.
The course is open to 6-8 Afro-descendants or racialized people with a production project ready for development (see below for admission criteria) in fiction or documentary :
- feature-length, medium-length or short film
- web series or linear series
