This workshop is a must if you are planning to submit a grant application to CALQ for your documentary. The essential elements to include in your application regarding your budget and the application form will be covered as well as different strategies to optimize your application.
Completed by a review of your application in the second part of the workshop, you will have all the information you need to submit a compliant application!
The workshop will be given in French but questions may be asked in English.

Sarah Baril Gaudet (Celles Qui Luttent, Les Bienveillants, Passages)

Sarah Baril Gaudet is a documentary filmmaker based in Montreal. A graduate of UQÀM, she received the NFB’s Best New Documentary Filmmaker Award in 2016, which enabled her to make Là où je vis (Where I Live), winner of the Grand Prix at the Vues du Québec Festival (France). Her first feature film, Passage (2020), was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Gala Québec Cinéma. In 2021, her short film Les bienveillants gained international recognition, receiving a special mention at Hot Docs, nominations at the IDA Documentary Awards and the Canadian Screen Awards, and an acquisition by The New York Times Op-Docs. In 2023, she premiered her second feature film, Celles qui luttent, at the RIDM. She is currently developing new projects, including the feature film Haute saison, produced by Nemesis Films and supported by SODEC and EURODOC.
