17 Sep Renaud Gélinas is the first recipient of (tri)Cycle 2025-2026!
Main Film would like to congratulate Renaud Gélinas and his short film project Tendresse boréale, the recipient of Cycle 1 of the (tri)Cycle Grant for the year 2025-2026. Congratulations Renaud, and a big thank you to our jury! Renaud will be able to benefit from the advice of renowned professionals and use our production equipment free of charge, up to a value of $10,000!
Tom and Marianne, a young couple in their twenties, go hiking in a forest in the Laurentians. One night, Tom disappears, and Marianne sets out to find him. This quest in nature becomes an intimate and spiritual experience, which the couple will live through both together and individually. Tendresse boréale is a poetic and introspective tale where realism and mysticism meet.
A native of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Renaud Gélinas is an emerging filmmaker now based in Montreal. After studying film at the University of Montreal, he directed several short films, including Océan seul, vents égarés and, more recently, Yégolé, mi amor, a docu-fiction shot in the Oaxaca region of Mexico. His films explore the complexity of human relationships, memory, and our relationship with the environment, all within an aesthetic that oscillates between mystery and realism.
(tri)Cycle Support Program
(tri)Cycle is a Main Film program that supports the creation of short fiction films. The program is open to independent filmmakers, regardless of their experience. Applicants must retain full creative and editorial control over all aspects of the project. In keeping with our organization’s mission, the goal of (tri)Cycle is to support, accompany, and encourage independent filmmakers with a strong and daring artistic commitment.
Through this program, selected artists will benefit from expert advice from recognized professionals and have access to our filming equipment free of charge, up to a value of $10,000, for four months!
The program supports three filmmakers per year, or one project per cycle. The project to be supported is determined by an external selection committee composed of a director, a producer, and a member of a distribution company.
The deadline for the second cycle for the 2025-2026 year is October 1, 2025.
