This six-hour workshop (two 3-hour blocks) will cover documentary screenwriting: the starting hypothesis, the choice of a shooting approach, the intuition of an atmosphere, the characters descriptions, the anticipation of a few key scenes, and the elaboration of a visual and sound treatment. You will be accompanied by Jean-François Lesage who will present examples from his own practice and those of other filmmakers who are exploring new forms of documentary screenwriting. Following this workshop, you will be able to better structure your ideas, define your intentions and successfully convey them while developing your narrative style. The workshop is based on group discussions, excerpt screenings and project analysis.
Workshop is given in French but questions may be asked in English.
It is recommended that you send a short note describing your project no later than November 17th, 2022.
