Workshop - Cycle Exploratoire – Printemps 2021

In this workshop, we invite you to explore these creative avenues and to create your own audio piece. The workshop will focus on sound exploration (ambient sounds / voices / sound objects) and its capture. Sound recording exercises will be done after the first part of the workshop, allowing the discovery of the creative and technical aspects of recording. Thereafter, there will be a week’s gap between each class to allow you to record audio content for your workshop, which will be the basis of your work for sessions 2 and 3.
A selection of audio works will be presented to you to illustrate the possibilities.
You are encouraged to write a short note describing your project/experience/expectations to enable the instructor to best guide you.

To record audio content, Main Film offers 3 recorders for rent (for a rental fee*):
– 1 Digital recorder Samson Zoom H5N
– 2 Digital recorder Sound Device 702T
– 1 Digital recorder Sound Device MixPre 6
Of course, you are free to use your own equipment if you have one, or even to use a phone recorder if you’re in trouble. For all equipment rental questions at Main Film, you can contact Alexis or Gabrielle at tech@mainfilm.qc.ca
* Workshop participants will receive a preferential rate on their equipment needs in this context.
Guillaume Campion
Guillaume Campion est un compositeur et artiste sonore. Alliant musique, parole et prises de son in situ, ses œuvres se retrouvent au croisement de la musique électroacoustique et du documentaire sonore. Récipiendaire de nombreux prix et bourses pour son travail de création, il est aussi très actif en tant que formateur et dans le domaine de la médiation culturelle. Ses œuvres ont été diffusées lors de plusieurs concours et événements au national comme à l’international, parmi lesquels : RIDM (Montréal), Kontakte (Berlin), Longueur d’ondes (Brest), Novelum (Toulouse), CMMAS (Mexique), Musica Nova (République-Tchèque). Il est co-fondateur de Trames, un collectif dédié à la création audionumérique et à la démocratisation de l’art sonore.
