Workshop - Experimental Cycle - Spring 2026

Thursday May 28, 2026 - Thursday June 18, 2026
6 pm - 9 pm

Main Film Atelier
2025 Rue Parthenais #304-A, Montréal, Quebec, H2K 3T2

With Alexis Langevin-Tétrault

Member 130$ | Non-member 200$

This workshop offers an accessible introduction to sound design and creative sound processing, covering both the technical and conceptual aspects of audio work. Designed for beginners, it will allow participants to gradually familiarize themselves with the vocabulary, tools, and approaches specific to contemporary sound creation through practical exercises and guided experiments.

Straddling the line between studio work and live performance, the workshop encourages a personal and intuitive approach to sound. Rather than following rigid techniques, participants will be invited to repurpose tools, explore different creative methods, and develop their own sonic sensibility. Sessions will cover creative sound recording, sound gestures, digital audio processing, sound synthesis, and various strategies for audio manipulation and transformation.

Participants will be able to work with free and accessible software. It is recommended to have access to a microphone for recording; a cell phone is sufficient, though it is also possible to work with pre-recorded sounds. A workshop for artists wishing to experiment with sound beyond its traditional forms and explore its potential as a living, performative medium.

  • Thursday, May 28 – online
  • Thursday, June 4 – in-person
  • Thursday, June 18 – in-person

The workshop will be given in French but questions may be asked in English.
