Video projection and the art of mapping offer a rich and complex canvas for creation. A true art of video light, this practice goes back as far as the invention of the camera obscura and the magic lanterns. This theoretical workshop offers an overview of the art of video projection in several forms (architectural, scenic, outdoor environment,…) in order to understand the nature and evolution of this current practice but also the creative stakes. Through a series of examples and case studies, the principles and challenges of creative multimedia design will be presented in order to introduce to those who wish to learn more, a primer on the practices and artistic possibilities of video projection.

Workshop is taught in French, but questions may be asked in English.

Frédéric Cordier

As a multidisciplinary artist, Frederic is interested in the narrative aspect of creation around several forms of artistic modalities. Believing that art is interconnected to community, as a multimedia director, he has contributed for ten years to elaborate and conceive ideas for immersives experiences in video projection, specifically in the cultural domain. As a visual artist known as FREDC, he pursues his own visual journey with drawing as a way to explore narrative and oniric creation, publishing graphic novels or participating in exhibitions. Today he is working as a digital and cultural agent with the RAAV, continues to develop his own practice, and is involved with the Art Hives initiative to facilitate inclusive and open studio space for the community.
