GENERAL INFORMATION

This program immerses you in the world of film distribution and international sales. Through a practical and strategic approach, you will learn how to develop marketing plans, negotiate with key players (agents, distributors, broadcasters, streaming platforms), and master the challenges of distribution. This course will help you understand the complex workings of the global distribution and sales market, identify your target audience, and master all the essential steps for successfully launching a film in local and international markets.


CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY

The course is open to 8 people only.
It is addressed to self-employed media arts workers living in Quebec.

Module 1 | Introduction to Film Distribution and the Global Market

Module 3 | Marketing Strategy and Distribution Plan

ABOUT

Sarah Ouazzani

Sarah is the Artistic Director of the DOXA Documentary Film Festival in Vancouver. She has worked in programming, distribution, and international sales for over 14 years. Her career has taken her around the world, with collaborations in India, China, Canada, and Morocco. She served as feature film programmer at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montreal in 2017 and at FIDADOC in Morocco. She has served on various selection committees and juries, including Hot Docs, DMZ Docs, RIDM, the Vancouver International Film Festival, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Ateliers de l’Atlas.

Since 2024, she has been collaborating with the Marrakech International Film Festival. From 2014 to 2021, she oversaw the sales and distribution of award-winning films from the Berlinale, Sundance, IDFA, and numerous other festivals through 3.14 Collectif and La Distributrice de Films in Montreal. Her passion for cinema led her to found Photogram in 2021, a Montreal-based organization dedicated to supporting international film sales. Sarah has been an instructor at Main Film since 2014.
