Workshop - Documentary Cinema - Fall 2021

This workshop is a must if you are planning to submit a grant application to SODEC’s Emerging Program for documentary film. The instructor will go over the essential elements to include in your application regarding your budget and the application form, as well as different strategies to optimize your application. Complemented by a review of your application in the second part of the workshop, you will have all the information needed to submit a compliant application.
It is mandatory for participants to read the information document of the SODEC Emerging Program before attending the workshop.

The participation in the SODEC Information Session of September 23rd is recommended but not mandatory.
The workshop will be given in French but questions may be asked in English.
Marie-Michèle Cyr (Parabola Films)
Marie-Michèle lives and works in Montreal/Tiohtià:ke. She studied film production at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University. Since then, she has gained experience as a director, producer, editor and director of photography on independent projects. Curious and self-taught, she is primarily interested in political and poetic ways of thinking about cinema. In 2019, she co-founded Earthbound Futures, a non-profit organization aimed at empowering queer youth. She now works as a documentary film producer at Parabola Films. She is currently producing the feature documentary Con Nhang – Enfants d’encens by Eva-Loan (2023), which received development support from SODEC, Telefilm Canada, CALQ and PRIM. In 2021, Marie-Michèle participated in the SODEC_Lab x CPH:DOX program, with the support of the RIDM Forum.
