Documentaries, by definition, intrude on the intimacy of their protagonists. What about your own family? How do you approach the creative process of your film while wearing the double hat of director and parent of your subjects?
Rozenn Potin and Claudie Lévesque will share their artistic motivations, their personal and professional involvement in the development and production process, and the impact the film has had on their families and friends.

Claudie Lévesque

Claudie Lévesque lives in Montreal and has been working in the media arts for over twenty years. She collaborates with several organizations and regularly sits on various film and video selection committees. In parallel, she pursues a career as a filmmaker. Her practice extends to experimental cinema and video art. Between 2005 and 2008, she took part in spontaneous creations (Montréal S8 and One Take S8) using her preferred film medium, Super 8. Here, she produced short films shot on location, including MAGIE BLANCHE (2005), starring her daughter. In the form of portraits or self-portraits, her works deal with intimate subjects involving herself or those close to her. She has made over a dozen short films, including an experimental documentary entitled MA FAMILLE EN 17 BOBINES (2011), which has been shown at numerous festivals (RIDM, Visions du Réel in Switzerland).

Rozenn Potin

Diplômée en sciences politiques, Rozenn Potin s’est faite contaminée par la gang de Kino en 2004! Membre active de ce mouvement ainsi que du centre d’artistes Vidéo Femmes à Québec, elle y a réalisé près d’une quinzaine de courts-métrages. Du documentaire à la fiction, sa sensibilité féminine et sa curiosité politique guident son travail. Elle sort en 2011 son premier moyen métrage, Attention Féministes! Elle termine en 2016 son premier long-métrage Les mondes de Vincent, un portrait sensible de son frère Vincent, qui vit avec la schizophrènie.
