Meeting Series.3 : Alternate narrativities of Matthew Rankin & Ryan McKenna

Quebec cinema is internationally renowned for its innovative storytelling. Among the province’s talented filmmakers, two names stand out for their singularity: Matthew Rankin (The Twentieth Century; Tesla: Lumière mondiale) and Ryan McKenna (Le Coeur de Madame Sabali; Promenades Nocturnes). Alternating between cinematographic genres from one film to the next, their works have been presented and rewarded at numerous festivals around the world.

In this masterclass, the filmmakers will share their creative process and talk about their many films (short and feature-length), the constraints they have encountered and the opportunities created by their alternative visions.
