As part of our experimental cycle, Main Film presents Discussion Exploration: a series of gatherings taking place on the first three Mondays of June! These panels will focus on sound explorations in experimental film practices.

On the second Exploration Monday, we are pleased to welcome filmmaker Kaveh Nabatian for a conversation about his collaboration with sound designer Sacha Ratcliffe on Kite Zo A (2023). This sensorial and experimental documentary celebrates the cultural richness of Haitian music and is built around an immersive and evocative soundtrack. Far from being a secondary element, sound in Kite Zo A acts as structure, rhythm, and emotional core — a driving force of the film’s narrative experience. This panel will explore how thoughtful sound design can shape storytelling in experimental cinema and offer insight into a deeply collaborative creative process.
