Job Offer: Equipment Technical Coordinator

Main Film is currently looking for a technical equipment coordinator! This person will work under the direct supervision of the technical department and in close collaboration with other team members.


JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Under the supervision of the Executive Director: Booking mobile and fixed equipment and preparing kits—camera kits, lens kits, sound kits, lighting kits, etc.—for rentals
  • Inspecting, maintaining, cleaning, and performing minor repairs on filming and post-production equipment (including analog equipment)
  • Coordinating and monitoring equipment maintenance and repairs performed by external vendors
  • All administrative responsibilities related to mobile and fixed equipment, such as: reservation quotes, rental invoices, maintenance management, research for new acquisitions, etc. Also, processing new member applications and membership dues, as well as renewals.
  • Coordinating and monitoring equipment needs for training workshops offered at Main Film and creative support programs
  • Providing expert advice to members on equipment rental choices
  • Providing general information to members about the organization, its activities, mandate, missions, and access policies
  • Ability to operate analog equipment (film digitization, transfers, camera tests, use of the optical printer, and the darkroom)
  • Assist the team with all tasks related to the center’s operations and its smooth functioning
  • Any other activities deemed necessary for the organization’s effective operation

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Hold a university degree in film (or equivalent experience)
  • In-depth knowledge of the film industry, related aspects, equipment, and the realities of a film shoot
  • Provide specialized technical support to members regarding digital and analog equipment
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in standard computer skills (Mac environment)
  • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills
  • Bilingual in French and English
  • Be meticulous, thorough, organized, diligent, and self-reliant
  • Have a strong desire to learn through a process of continuous improvement in order to keep pace with technological advancements
  • Be a good listener and sociable
  • Possess strong adaptability, demonstrate flexibility, and have a quick and responsive mind
  • Be curious, dynamic, and proactive
  • Be eager to get involved in the center’s activities and enjoy working as part of a team
  • Be available occasionally in the evenings and on weekends
  • Strong ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Eligibility for a wage subsidy is a plus

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Permanent position, 28 hours per week over 4 days
  • Salary: $20 per hour for the first year
  • Vacation: 4 weeks (2 weeks at Christmas starting in the first year + 2 additional weeks
    at the end of the first year)
  • On-site work required – Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Occasional attendance at events required
